What is Holistic Tarot Reading and Consultancy?

Holistic Tarot Reading and Consultancy?

Holistic Tarot Consultancy differs from traditional Tarot Reading. Tarot Reading in the past was, and is still used by many as a ‘Fortune-Telling’ method of divination. Typically the client sat quietly throughout a brief reading while the Tarot Reader relayed an interpretation of each card drawn. It was a one way flow of communication with The Tarot Reader in full control while the client sat silently taking note of all the bits and pieces. I have been to plenty of these myself over the years. A Reading was often a series of non-related pieces of information with some parts making sense while others remained mysterious or out-of-place. People often sought Tarot Readings to find out if the Reader could see what they already knew about themselves.

Tarot Reading has thankfully evolved and today we find a rich variety of interpretation styles to suit every need.

Holistic Tarot Consultancy goes much deeper than the old-fashioned method by diving into the realm of the human psyche and all that resides therein. It draws a new style of clientele; those who seek personal empowerment and the freedom to control and manage their own life. They see Tarot as a form of Personal Life Coaching which will equip them with the necessary skills and attitude to achieve their goals and dreams. Read the rest of this entry

How to Interpret a Relationship Tarot Reading with no Cup Cards!

interpreting_relationship_spreads_with_no_cups

There is a certain area of Tarot Reading that causes considerable confusion and frustration to those who are in the early stages of their apprenticeship or studies. The area I refer to is how one goes about interpreting a Relationship Spread when there is an obvious lack of Cup Cards to work with. Many students struggle when attempting to link non-Cup Cards to the emotional needs or desires of their client. They can view each Suit in a one-dimensional manner. This results in seeing love and romance only when Cup Cards are present. A good old Wand, Sword or Pentacle doesn’t have the same impact at all.

How to Interpret ‘Wand Cards’ in a Relationship Reading

I spent several years teaching Tarot, and at the end each class lesson, students would pair up to do mini exchange readings for each other. I would oversee these readings as I circulated around the class, stopping occasionally to observe the interactions. Time and again, I saw students fall into the same presumption trap that seems to be particular to the Cups’ Suit.  Here are some examples:

The_ Lovers_Upright

Student A – Wants to ask about their career and in their near future position lies the Ace of Cups.

Student B– Face lights up and announces that they are going to meet someone on a romantic basis in the near future. Love is in the air. Student B hooks onto this card and bases the rest of the reading around the new romance that is just appearing on the horizon.

Student A – Is quite flattered but still would like to know more about their career.

I ask Student B if there is a possibility the Ace of Cups held others meanings that might be connected to career rather than love? The Point being that Cup Cards do not automatically mean ROMANCE or LOVE.

How to Interpret ‘Wand Cards’ in a Relationship Reading

******************************

The Lovers Reversed

Student C – Wants to ask about relationships and whether there is a ‘special other’ waiting for them in the near future. The cards drawn reveal no Cups.

Student D – On seeing no Cup Cards suggests that the time is not right as they see no romance in the foreseeable future.

I ask Student D to ponder the cards in the Spread and consider the possibility that Student C is not the romantic type and is looking for a less traditional type of relationship. Could they be seeking an intellectual match, or someone who is daring and adventurous, or then  again it might be financial security and stability that means more than romance. The Point being that no Cup Cards does not mean NO RELATIONSHIP or LOVE

******************************

I had a query recently from a site viewer who couldn’t work out why she had drawn so many Cup Cards when she had deliberately asked about her career. She asked if it meant that she should be concentrating on her love life at present instead of her career? Now, maybe the cards did mean that, but my response was to examine the personal emotional associations of the Cup Cards she drew, as opposed to automatically connecting them to romantic involvement with another. I reminded her that personal happiness comes before seeking it with another. I asked her to revisit these Cup Cards in relation to how she emotionally felt about her career choices. Were the cards suggesting a career associated with the Cups’ Suit? Where they questioning the long-term emotional fulfillment that would be derived from certain career options she was considering? Could she be choosing to turn down a career opportunity that would bring great happiness, but little wealth, in favor of one that promised the very opposite? There are endless possibilities and she would need to analyse the spread as a whole to find the answer.

So, the next time you do a Relationship Reading, and upon turning over the cards you find not even one Cup Card to run with, don’t panic. Look at the cards that are present and work from there. Love comes in many shapes and sizes. Our definition of love also changes throughout of our life. What we consider love as a teenager, is perceived as no more than naive infatuation as a young adult. When we are busy building our careers we may take another view of love and romance. It may not be as vitally important to us during that busy time. Love that involves committing to each other, or starting a family, takes on yet another slant. Then we have the type of Love that develops into a deep rich friendship. We also have a Love that demands the retention of personal freedom, the love of one’s own company. We have love that comes and goes, many loves in one lifetime, love that is delusional or elusive, and of course love that is timeless. As Tarot Readers or consultants it is not our job to attach a blanket understanding or meaning of love when doing Relationship Readings for ourselves or others.

What might sound preposterous to you may very well be extremely acceptable to another. A lack of Cup Cards could easily suggest that the person you are reading for is looking for something other than the typical romantic idyll. They may not feel ready for that type of love, so it is not our place to cast judgement.

I have taken some time to compile a list of possible meanings and associations (both Upright and Reversed)  that can be used for the other Three Suits; Wands, Swords and Pentacles when they turn up in a Relationship Reading. I have already written extensively about the relationship aspects in the more detailed versions of each card which are available to view on this site. These however can be used for quick access.

I have also given snapshot Yes/No meanings that can be applied, but remember they are only snapshot, and not definitive. There is also a reference to the Number of the Card with its numerical associations.

I will be releasing these in installments over the next week, starting with The Wands Suit. Of course I will also include The Cups Suit at the end. For today, I bring you The Wands Suit. Just Click Here or on the link below.

Trying Times – No Gain Without Pain

Hi to all my Tarot Friends around the World,

The Fool (0) UprightPage of Pentacles Upright3 of Pentacles Upright 5 of Pentacles Upright

So sorry I have been missing for the last while. A combination of a bad flu dose on top of a heavy exam schedule in college. It will all be over by June so I am just keeping my head down and trying to wade through all the work as best as I can. The annoying thing is that I signed up for this Digital Technology Course to learn the skills that would help me develop my new Truly Teach Me Tarot website which has been sitting waiting for me to finish configuring on WordPress.org. Part of the training involves developing a website and digital marketing campaign for a small to medium enterprise business. Before I signed up for the course I attended an open information day and made inquiries as to whether I could use my own project instead of being assigned one by the college. I explained to them that I could not neglect my own site in order to build one for another. They consulted with the Head of College and I was told that although it had never been done before, they could see no reason as to why I could not work on my own project. I was delighted by this news and duly signed up.

Unfortunately things have not worked out as expected. I have had to plough through module after module of non relevant subjects, many of which I have covered in previous courses. On top of that there have been non-stop tedious assignments which have taken up so much of my time. At the information day, some people asked about the workload and whether it would spill over into our weekends. Some people had weekend jobs or family commitments, and were worried about juggling it all. We were reassured that there would be sufficient time in the class day to complete all assignments. Of course it has not worked out like that. Read the rest of this entry

Will There be a Reconciliation? – Feedback from The Querant

Will There be a Reconciliation? – Feedback from The Querant

The Magician (I) Upright

Page of Wands UprightQueen of Swords UprightThe Hermit Upright

Below is the response from The Querant in relation to the Reading I posted for her on Monday The 23rd of February.

Dear Querant,

Thank you so much for providing me with Feedback from the Reading I did for you on Monday. Now that a two-way flow of communication has opened up, so too have the Cards and their Stories. There is now so much more to see in this Reading and I have a few suggestions to make after reading your response. (see below Querant’s response)

*********************************

With the 3 card reading, the Four of Swords in the past position is on point. It was a pretty dramatic end, a lot of bad feelings involved and it indeed was built up over a long period of time. I was feeling insecure about how/if it was developing in the right direction because the lack of communication, consistency and effort was building up for a long time. The other person involved asked me for a second chance and when the opportunity was handed and still no major effort was put in after so many promises, I knew I had to say goodbye even though deep inside that wasn’t what I really wanted. I just couldn’t go on with never knowing where I stand with this person. I wasn’t being a priority and there were too many excuses for this.

What also came between us was the distance. We live in the same country but a couple of hours away from each other and we just couldn’t seem to figure out how to make things work because of that. I am thinking about visiting the other persons city in about a month and I don’t know if I should reach out and say this because we ended on such a bad note.

The Hermit in present position also makes sense because I do feel lonely. I gave my all into this and after everything went down hill, I’ve felt lost. I do understand and agree that I need to be alone for a while and just learn how to not be so dependent on someone else/needing someone else. More time to just reflect and get some ”fresh air” is needed if we decide to ever enter each other lives again, or perhaps to realize that we need to stay away.

For the outcome, I know there will be only be a reconciliation if we decide to not let the distance get in the way and if big changes are made. I’ve got a lot of trust issues now because of the broken promises that was made and we can only reconcile if the other person proves that things will never go back to the way the were and steps up to the plate.

For the 10 card reading, you’re right when you say that others consider it an inappropriate match and there is much opposition to this relationship. This is because I wasn’t treated fairly. I’ve got a lot of ”You deserve so much better”, ”You’re worth so much more than this” etc.

I don’t know how to precisely interpret Page of Wands as current influences. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I’m thinking about visiting the other persons city and if I should mention it, which is risky because of everything that has happened, as I mentioned before?

When it comes to obstacles in this reading I am wondering if the Queen of Swords-card is about me? This is because I recognize myself when you say ”…sharp edge of her tongue on many occasions” (when I had enough) and ”If there is something going on and The Queen of Swords finds out, there will be hell to pay for she will drive her Sword into all involved.” But I also have to say that I know the other person is the real obstacle because I haven’t done anything severe to mess up the relationship, I knew that I was trying my best the whole time and I wanted the other person to do the same.

The Three of Swords coming in for past influences echoes the Four of Swords in the previous reading, just like you said, so it makes sense.

The Ace of Swords in the goals and destiny position is also on point about wanting to sever ties and connections that stand in the way of this relationship.

”There is a need for people around the Querant; family and friends to give their blessing” is correct because if me and the other person were to ever enter each others lives again there is a lot that has to be proven. They’ve been seeing how much I’ve been hurting and don’t want to see me this way again. The Eight of Swords representing the influences of family and friends is precise.

Everything about the Queen of Cups represents me; I do love happy endings so it isn’t strange that I’m asking about a possible reconciliation.

The Page of Swords in the hopes and fears position is definitely talking about my insecurity, a sense of paranoia and suspicion.

The Magician for the outcome is a bit unclear just like the situation itself. Of course I hope this is positive and suggests plans and ideas manifesting in the real world, but I do realize that I need to take of my rose-tinted glasses. Just because I wish for things to turn around and for it to be a happy ending doesn’t mean it will necessarily happened. I cannot make a person change for the better and ”make things right” if the person has no desire to do so. At the end of the day all I want is to be treated right. Time will only tell how this will go but as for right now I know I need time to myself. If this isn’t meant to work out then I know something much better is waiting for me.

A Love Reading Request – Will There be a Reconciliation?

A Love Reading Request – Will There be a Reconciliation?

4 of Swords Upright The Hermit Upright 10 of Cups Upright

I received a request for help with this Reading a couple of weeks ago. Unfortunately, I am only getting to it now due to a heavy college schedule. I normally post back to the person with my views but have decided to include this Reading in a Blog Post instead. Obviously I have not included any personal information such as names or location etc. I receive many enquiries but can only respond to a certain number. However, please note that these Reading Requests come to me via the Comments Box, and when replied to, automatically can be viewed by anyone visiting the site. If you do not wish your Reading to be posted publicly, please mention this. Even if you fail to do so, I will never post details of users name or email address on the public posts.

I am currently weighed down with College Assignments, and as a result have precious little time to write on my site. However, I am working away in the background getting a bit done here and there. I will be releasing Part I of the re-worked Knight of Pentacles in the coming week. This is the Card Imagery Description and Personality Profile part. The Upright and Reversed Meanings will be posted once each stage is complete. Thank you for your patience and I look forward to getting stuck back into my full writing in the next couple of months.

Dear Querant, you say that you pulled these Three Cards in relation to a Love Reading and wish to know if The Ten of Cups suggests a reconciliation. In my response to you I cautioned about the Ten of Cups being a Stage Card and that it can often appear in a Spread when we wish and desire a certain outcome in a relationship. I asked you to check the surrounding cards, and if it seemed to be totally out-of-place, or looked awkward sitting in the Spread, there could be a chance that you are looking at a Tainted Reading. The Ten of Cups may have appeared because you drew it towards you with emotional desire.

You have now supplied the remaining Cards in the Spread. You have used the Three Card Spread; Past, Present, Future for this Reading. So let us have a little look. You have also supplied a more detailed Spread you did on a previous occasion. We will take a look at that one afterwards.

I am also interested to hear from other site visitors who would like to contribute. As you are all aware, it is quite difficult to do these Cold Style Readings as we cannot ask questions, and there are some many variables and probabilities involved. We will try to do our best and will look at it as a learning experience. I do hope our Querant gains some useful insight from the Readings below.

Love Reading – Querant asks about The Ten of Cups reflecting a possible reconciliation.

4 of Swords Upright The Hermit Upright 10 of Cups Upright

Four of Swords         The Hermit                       Ten of Cups

Well, with the Four of Swords in the Past Position, it is not hard to see that you have obviously gone through a very stressful period in relation to the relationship you refer to. Now this card could point to illness and a lot of other things, but when you mention a reconciliation I cannot help but think that there was a pretty dramatic end to this relationship in the past. There would have been much tension involved, arguments and bad feelings. I think this was probably building up over a long period of time and your relationship may have broken down bit by bit. However long it took in coming about, the end was quite a blow and left you burnt out, exhausted and deeply hurt. I am not sure if you have had much time for anything in your life during this stage as you would have been psychologically very low. You might possibly have withdrawn in an attempt to make sense of it all. Now as I tell you all this, it may not be you these meanings apply to, but rather your partner, so we will have to take that on board. Issues in your relationship, or on a personal level came to crisis stage. There was a death like feeling about the end; nothing left to say or argue about, too tired to fight anymore, and too weary to care. Someone, or both, needed to crawl into their own corner or shell and figure out what was going on. Someone may have abruptly left.

As a result, you have gone through a very low time and are probably not very socially active right now. The Hermit coming in as the Present Card carries several meanings for you. He highlights loneliness and a feeling of having spent enough time in despair and out of circulation. He suggests a time of great reflection and introspection. There comes a time after deep loss when we reach a point of transition. Much self-knowledge has been gained from our journey through pain and distress. We can see life in a new perspective and seek change, and to be truer to our inner-self. The Hermit can suggest counselling or the need for professional help in this area. It is The Hermit who holds the mirror up close so that you can see your true reflection. However, who or what you see looking back at you may come as shock, for The Hermit’s mirror holds special magic. What reflects back at you is your inner-self, also all the facades you have worn, and all the personalities you have projected on to others. It is a time for awakening and taking full responsibility for where you are in life, both for good and bad. The Hermit will help you through the this voyage of self-discovery and growth. The Four of Swords very often has to spend time with The Hermit before stability returns and a new focus emerges. I feel a sense that you are ready to return to normal life once more and are eager to come in out of the cold. You might be eager for a reconciliation thinking that all the fuss has died down, and that you are more stable in your self. Your ex-partner may not be in the same frame of mind as you so you must bear this in mind. It does not mean that they do not seek a reconciliation at some stage, but it may be too soon for them. New Practice Reading – Careers

Career Practice Reading

Truly Teach Me Tarot Course

(Using Court Cards – Based on an Actual Reading)

Step by Step Analysis

This Career Practice Reading is a Guided Reading to assist you in understanding how a Mini Storyline emerges from each Card in a Spread. All these Mini Stories are then pulled together to form the Main Story which is the ultimate interpretation. You will also see that each Mini Story carries its own weight and importance. It demonstrates the fact that there is never just one story going on in anyone’s life at any given time. All the individual Mini Stories going on at the one time do have a cumulative effect however. Some of the Mini Stories are inter-related with other Mini Stories, while others appear to be quite separate. All together, they show the Whole Story; the characters on stage, behind the scenes, and audience perception.  This Guided Reading aims to demonstrate how by linking and making cross connections between these Mini Stories/Cards in a Reading, one can arrive at an in-depth and thorough interpretation of the Querant’s issue or situation.

This Reading is based on an actual Reading from a few years ago. I have made a few adjustments to allow for greater variety in interpretation from a Student’s perspective. Essentially I have given you more to work with in order to compensate for the absence of communication with the Querant.

*****************************

When you are ready, lay the Cards Out In The Spread As Detailed Below. Please attempt this Reading on your own before reading my interpretation. Then slowly follow mine and see how close our interpretations are. Again, there would be something mighty unusual going on if your Reading was exactly the same as mine. No two Readers are the same, so neither will their Readings be either. There should be some similarities however. Remember that your Reading may be different, but that does not mean it is wrong. You may pick up on another aspect of the Querant’s issue that I do not. So when you are ready slowly proceed.

*******************************

The Querant

A young male in his mid-twenties.   He is looking for information, guidance and direction concerning a specific area of his life. This area is Career related. In this instance, we have little to go on except that he wants some insight on his career as he has given me no other details. He doesn’t want to ask a specific question about his Career so this Reading could result in a very Generic Career Reading. We will have to be quite alert to the imagery and make connections and links wherever we can. We will also have to use our intuition with this one.

Me – I ask him to shuffle the Cards concentrating on the Career area of his life; what he wants to do, where he sees his Career going in the future and any concerns he may have. I ask him to connect with his Higher Self, Subconscious and the Universe for guidance and direction. I suggest he Reverses a few Cards as he Shuffles, but watch to make sure he does not Reverse too many. I suggest he asks “what is it that I need to know right now in relation to my Career and the decisions I have to make around it?”

He shuffles the Cards and Reverses some. He puts the Deck back on the table. I pull the Base Card and set it aside on the table. I then draw the Cards for the Spread from the top. ………………………Continue Readings by Clicking Here

Getting Relationship Reading Practice with The Knight of Wands

Using The Knight of Wands in Relationship  Readings

Knight of Wands Upright   Knight of Wands Reversed

When learning to Read The Tarot, students can find The Court Cards the hardest to interpret when Reading as they can imply so much as well as representing various personalities or the Querant them self.  Below I have drawn up some Fictional Readings for Relationships where The Knight of Wands makes an appearance. These Readings are just guidelines on how to work a Court Card into a Reading.  In time you will find your own way and that way may be very different to mine. It is whatever works for you that counts.

Below is the First Practice Reading. There are another Three Knight of Wands Relationship Readings available by Clicking Here

3 – The Near Future              5 – Surrounding Energies/Atmosphere

4 of Swords Upright

4 – Answer/Solution/Hard Facts/Advice/Querant

This Reading was drawn with me setting the intention that I wanted a Relationship Reading for Practice Purpose using The Knight of Wands Upright in The Surrounding Energies Position. This is all for practice and not based on an actual Reading.

Well I was pretty happy with the Cards that came out as they are quite appropriated for a Relationship Reading and therefore make my job much easier when interpreting, but nothing is ever as it seems at first glance. Always remember that when doing a , look, look again and then look again.  Also remember that any one Card, or even all of them, may be giving you more than one message. You must learn to become a sleuth when Reading The Tarot.

Well my first impression is that here we have the Happy Couple in Position 1 Representing the Past. This I take as a couple who have been dating for some time as it is in the Past Position. Immediately I take in Four of Wands in The Present Position 2The Sun in Near Future Position 3 and The Hierophant in Outcome Position 7. These Cards are shouting WEDDING at me. I also think it is quite imminent as the Four of Wands in the Present Position 2 is letting me know that everyone is ready and waiting for the celebrations to begin. The Sun in the Near Future Position 3 tells me a few things. It tells me of the mood surrounding this big event and how much everyone is looking forward to this great day. I think also it might be a Summer Wedding and the future indeed looks very promising. I also believe that the desire to have children, or a child already on the way may also be part of the occasion. However, it may also be the driving force behind the wedding if there is a baby on the way. Everything seems in order, and if we look up diagonally, there is the Hierophant waiting to officiate at the Ceremony. So the Wedding Venue is ready, the guests lined up, everyone in high jinks and the Spiritual or Religious side of it taken care of too. Across from the Four of Wands in the Hopes and Fear Position 6 we have The Six of Cups. This gives me a lovely warm feeling of friends and family all returning home to be a part of the Happy Couple’s Big Day. I do also think that the Wedding is taking place where they grew up, or at least one of them did. There is a sense of nostalgia here, but also this couple may be childhood sweethearts.

With The Hierophant so close to The Six of Cups, I can’t help but feel that this couple are falling into line with what has gone before them. There is a sense of tradition and being very conventional with these two cards. I would say that this will be a big Wedding in the Town, and everyone who is anyone will be present. The couple is well-known, and whether she is pregnant or not, are tying the knot just like all their friends are doing or have already done. There is a strong sense of expected security and stability with this union, but there is also a feeling of small-mindedness, especially with The Hierophant so close to The Six of Cups. I feel almost claustrophobic about the whole thing. However, it all looks like it is going according to plan and I can even visualise the bride putting on her wedding dress, and everyone beginning to make their way to the Ceremony while the Wedding Venue Staff are putting the last finishing touches to the Banquet Room. All is set for a good day.

Now we bring in The Knight of Wands in the Surrounding Energy Position 5,  and we have several options when it comes to interpreting Him. We can use one, or all of these as he may be speaking to us on several levels. However, we must also be acutely aware of the shadow of The Four of Swords sitting beside him in Position 4 – Answer/Advice/Solutions/Hard Facts  when interpreting this Reading. Why has The Four of Swords, a potential stressful Card appeared in this otherwise bright, sunny, happy and dazzling Reading. I think The Knight of Wands will give us insight. This is why, you must always look to the Surrounding Cards to give support and clarity to your theories, and to help identify the reasons behind the presence of not just Court Cards, but every other Card in the Reading too.

The Knight of Wands is speaking to me on many levels in this Reading. He is firstly telling me that this has been a hectic time. Like all Weddings, their preparation and lead up can be frenetic. So much to do; all the running around, organising, choosing of outfits, dresses, venues, colours, flowers, rings etc can leave one with very little time to think or gather one’s thoughts.

The Knight of Wands is telling me that this is all happening in a whirlwind. Is it all happening too fast. Is there too much action with not enough thought. Has this Wedding gathered a momentum that is now hard to slow down or rein in? Why am I thinking that Fire is driving everyone at the moment? Well we have the heat and positivity of The Sun shining down on us from the opposite side, and the building fiery excitement of guests in The Four of Wands. So many have travelled home, or from far away for this day that Fire has got hotter and hotter. Even The Hierophant is in on the action too, ready to make it all official in front of everyone from the town; family, friends, work colleagues etc. The Knight of Wands has really helped set everyone on Fire and looks like he is just going to gallop right down the centre of The Reading for he can’t stop now.

However, The Four of Swords in Position 4 is telling me that The Pressure is beginning to tell where someone is concerned. There is a stress here that is not Wedding Happy Stress related. No this is someone who feels under tremendous pressure. I feel there may be some underlying fears, concerns, worries about the whole thing but with The Knight of Wands in The Surrounding Energy it may all have happened too fast, moved too swiftly, decisions made and actions taken without thinking things through. Whichever one has second thoughts or doubts, need to realise that it is not too late. The Knight of Wands has a tendency to shy away from commitment so it may not be the woman depicted in the Happy Couple who feels the stress. The Knight of Wands often gets carried away on the spur of the moment and takes on, or agrees to things he can easily regret within a short space of time. He may be feeling under pressure to follow through and feels his life closing down into the secure, but claustrophobic little existence of The Six of Cups. He may feel the four walls closing in around him and the loss of his freedom. He may feel like running away, getting away or just disappearing.

The Four of Swords in The Answer Position 4 is giving AdviceAdvice that should be taken before it is too late. The situation may feel like it has taken on a life of its own at this stage, and like The Knight of Wand’s Horse, is at full gallop and cannot be reined it, but The Four of Swords is saying ‘Not So’. It is imperative at this stage that whichever one it is takes some time out on their own to think things through. They need to step back from the situation and give much thought as to the nature of their concerns. After all, it may just be pre-wedding nerves, but then it again there may be much more involved. Before The Knight of Wands is allowed to take one more stride either way, in or out, whoever is being depicted in The Four of Swords must allow their thoughts to clear and settle so that they can make a decision one way or the other. The Three Swords hanging over the Figure suggest to me the concern this person has for what others will say or think should they do something that will break with tradition, and ruin everyone else’s expectations of their life, while the Sword that lies beneath is the person’s ‘what about me, what about my happiness?‘ attitude.

On first glance this Reading looks done and dusted. A happy union and great celebrations, but now I believe on further analysis that everything has moved too fast, someone is uncertain, someone feels either duty bound or under immense pressure. Obviously, if this was a Face to Face Reading you would be able to ask questions and get a better idea but we must use our own wits for this one.

Truly Teach Me Tarot Course Update – Rolling Home With The Four Nines

Spring Greetings to all My Tarot Students and Enthusiasts,

I do hope you are all keeping well and are looking forward to the summer months ahead.  We are progressing nicely through The Minor Arcana and very shortly The Four Suits will have completed their current journey or cycle.  The drama for each Suit is building momentum as they head towards the finish line, the climax of their endeavours.  At times it has read like a Soap Opera but then, the story of The Four Suits is based on Archetypal Characters and Archetypal Situations.  This is exactly how Soap Operas, Movies or Fictional Novels work as they too are all based on Archetypes.  They mimic real life but in the extreme; characters with over-the-top personalities and exaggerated scenarios.

I am delighted once more, to announce that I have finished re-working and re-formating the Four Nines of The Minor Arcana, The Nine (IX) of Wands, The Nine (IX) of Cups, The Nine (IX) of Swords and The Nine (IX) of Pentacles which are now ready for viewing.  For continuity purposes, I have continued the fictional storyline for some of the Cards in The Card Imagery Section, but do also include their basic description.  Just Click on the Individual Images below to go straight to the Individual Pages. Don’t forget to read The Nines Introduction first.

The Four Nines – Wands, Cups, Swords and Pentacles

Nines Introduction

9 of Wands  9 of Cups Upright  9 of Swords Upright  9 of Pentacles Upright

These Cards will also be found in Lesson 9 of Part I of Course. They are also listed in the Section The 78 Cards – Detailed.  Don’t forget to read The Nines Introduction Page first before moving on to the individual Cards.

As with all the other Cards, there is detailed information on the Card Imagery and Description along with the Keywords and Meanings for both the Upright and Reversed versions.  Should you only require the Keywords and Meanings, then they can be found in the Section, The 78 Cards -Brief which is being created as I finish re-working each Card. There is still a great wealth of information available in this section and is probably most suited to those who just want to find out what their Cards mean rather than an in-depth study.

*************

It is important to remind you that it is not required of you to remember all interpretations given as that would be impossible.  What you are given is a wide variety of Keywords, Meanings and Associations for each Card.  Choose the meanings that resonate with you, make sense or have personal experience of. Take note of these, attempt to memorise them and use them as interpretations when those Cards are drawn.  In time you will find that you wish to add more meanings or keywords to your original ones as they become relevant.  This is how you build up your repertoire.

There are some Readers who only ever assign one meaning to each Card and therefore when a certain Card comes up, it means only one thing.  This is great if you have confidence and conviction of that sole meaning being relevant for your Querant.  Every Querant and Each Situation is often complex and complicated.  One meaning may not be suffice to unravel their Reading or provide any constructive advice.  If one meaning per Card works well for you then that is the way to go and is perfectly fine.  Otherwise, try to build up a variety that you are comfortable working with.

It is important also to remember that you will not learn The Tarot overnight, so don’t expect to. Take your time and get to know each Card on a personal basis.  Learning The Tarot involves self-discipline, personal application and heaps of patience.  Unlike many courses today that offer Certification after a One-Day or Weekend Workshop, allowing participants to then set-up professional practices as a qualified this, that or the other, you won’t be able to do that with Tarot. For a start, you have 78 Eight Cards to cover and remember, 156 if you are planning on reading reversed, and also many other disciplines to take on board such as Numerology and Astrology.  However, there are some who attend weekend Tarot Workshops and then set-up in business straight away. I have heard from very good sources there are several to be found at holistic  and psychic fairs where they have to consult their books and notes under the table when interpreting readings for people who are actually paying them for the privilege of it.

This type of Tarot Reading brings disgrace to the profession and is very damaging to the reputation of diligent, experienced Readers.   No one wants to, or expects, to have to study anymore in the current climate of ‘just add hot water and stir’ qualifications. I have taught several classes over the years and at the beginning of each course some students will drop out after the first class or two.  Those who come to let me know their reason for leaving explain that there was more involved than they thought.  They had always wanted to learn Tarot but they thought it would be simple.  Some had already attended Angel Card Reading Courses and now wanted to add Tarot Reading to their list of services.  They believed it would be as simple to learn Tarot as it was Angel Cards.

I always explain to anyone enquiring about learning Tarot the complexities involved if you really want to be a serious Tarot Student.  Tarot is an Apprenticeship and an Art.  It takes time to become adept at it but still some students find this hard to accept. If you wanted to become a psychologist, biologist or indeed an artist, and enrolled in a college to study it, you certainly would be very concerned if you discovered that all your tuition was to be covered in a weekend along with certification and graduation. The same applies to Tarot.  You will have to be prepared to work and study at it for some time if you want to be a Good Reader.

This is not to say you shouldn’t be Reading for others at all. On the contrary, you should now be hungry to practice your growing skills on friends and families members who will only be too happy to help you out.  It is important to let people know you are just learning at this stage and need to gain some first-hand experience.  This will take the pressure off you.

Best of Luck with your continued studies,

Vivien (Your Tarot Teacher)

Truly Teach Me Tarot Course Update – The Eights are Good To Go

Hail all Tarot Students and Enthusiasts,

The Eights Intro

8 of Wands Upright 8 of Cups Upright 8 of Swords Upright 8 of Pentacles Upright

I am back once again and this time I bring with me the up-dated and re-worked Four Eights of The Minor Arcana; The Eight of Wands, The Eight of Cups, The Eight of Swords and The Eight of Pentacles.

The Story of the Four Individual Suits continues in the Eights as we head quite rapidly now towards the end of their current journey in the Tens.

It is in the Eights that the governing Elements are given free rein and we can really get an idea of their sheer strength and force at work as the Four Suits harness and utilise their qualities.

At last each Suit appear to be realising the potential of their precious Element and are managing to balance their components for maximum results. No longer are they content to be mere passengers on their journeys, for they are now in a position to control instead of being controlled by their respective Elements.

There is one Suit however, that still struggles to get to grips with theirs, and unfortunately have to contend with one of the most difficult, unpredictable and potentially destructive Elements of all.  This Suit is Swords and they have been given very little respite on their journey so far.  Apart from the Element of Fire in Wands, Air in Swords is very difficult to control and much self-discipline is needed in order to keep it heading in any desired direction. We shall see what it is capable of doing in the Eight of Swords.

You will see once more that I have used fictional storylines again and I trust you will find these useful on many levels.  These are just my stories and not required study. The idea is for you to remember the theme of each Card and Suit in a way that links them to each other.  When Reading Tarot, you must be able to rewind and fast forward the story in front of you so that you know where something is coming from, where it is now and where it is likely to go in the future.  Knowing the general storyline of each Suit allows you to do this.

So when you have plenty of time to spare go slowly through the Four Eights and attempt to assimilate their energy and meanings.  Do not put yourself under any pressure to remember all the variations of their interpretations as that would be too much to ask of anyone.  Just pick out the parts that are understandable and relevant to you and start with them.  In time you will add to these bit by bit and your knowledge will deepen and strengthen as a result.

These Cards will also be found in Lesson 8 of Part I of Course. They are also listed in the Section The 78 Cards – Detailed.  Don’t forget to read The Eights Introduction Page first before moving on to the individual Cards.

The Four Sevens of The Minor Arcana – Reworked

Hail all Tarot Students & Enthusiasts,

7 of Wands Upright 7 of Cups Upright 7 of Swords Upright 7 of Pentacles Upright

Well, here I am again and this time to announce that I have completed the re-working of The Four Sevens of The Minor Arcana.

The Story of each Suit as they Journey through from Ace to Ten is building nicely now and beginning to sound and look like a regular Soap OperaSoap Operas are of course based on archetypal character and situations just like the Cards are. You will notice that I have been using an ongoing Storyline for some of the Cards other than the description of Imagery and Symbolism.  The idea behind it is to make you more comfortable or au fait with creative Story-telling, visualisation and imagination when interpreting the Cards in a spread or individually.  Of Course, the Stories are just my Stories and do not come as an absolute interpretation or version.  The Stories have come from my imagination and help set the relevant mood or atmosphere.  Stories are easier to remember than a list of Keywords or PhrasesStories are also easier to tell and make more sense than a handful of disjointed sentences. You just need to build on your experience of relating them to your life or the life of your Querant.

My Stories should be used only as a guideline and not literally interpreted. You may see a completely different storyline building in the Cards which is absolutely fine as we all see and analyse things in a different manner. We describe them in a way that makes sense to us.  Some of us use Flowery Language, Mystical Musings or Freudian Terminology to verbalise our understanding of a Card or Spread while others use plain old Matter-Of-Fact, Down-To-Earth, Simple Words to get their point across.  Some of us waffle on forever (like me), while some are brisk and brief.  It really depends on the individual personality of the Reader and all have a place in Tarot Reading.

So, when you have time, check-in with the Seven (VII) of Wands, Seven (VII) of Cups, Seven (VII) of Swords and Seven (VII)of Pentacles to see how all the characters have been getting on as they approach the final stages of their Journey.

Just Click on The Individual Images below to go directly to Card Page.  Before Reading the Individual Card Interpretation please go to the Four Sevens Intro Page for background information on the Sevens in the Tarot.

Should you only require the Keywords and Meanings, then they can be found in the Section, The 78 Cards -Brief which is being created as I finish re-working each Card. There is still a great wealth of information available in this section and is probably most suited to those who just want to find out what their Cards mean rather than an in-depth study.
