Calling All Tarot Students – Your Opinion is Needed

Calling all Students and fellow Tarot Readers.

A Truly Teach Me Tarot visitor and fellow Tarot Student contacted me last week and asked if I might post this on their behalf without disclosing their identity. You can read their message below and post your comments in the comments box. Please do not be afraid to offer your insights. The person in question may do a fuller reading based on these Cards to gain further information. If so I will post those when they are sent to me. The person, Querant, will be reading your comments and understands that the Cards are subject to the individual’s method of interpretation, is open to all suggestions, but bound by none.

7 of Cups Rx  8 of Swords Upright

“Hi Vivien, Can I get your opinion please…or even that of other students on the site…On Tuesday i did my 2 card draw. I got the 7of cups reversed and the 8 of swords. Today I got the same cards again.. although the 7 of cups was upright. I am obviously being told something but I’m not sure what. My career is stalling at the moment as my employer is bringing in big changes and I don’t know if I shall have a job at the end of it. With this in mind I paid to do a course( quite expensive) to boost my skills.. unfortunately the course and its provider didn’t match my expectations and in the end I have put it on hold while I have a think. My practical self says just do it, get it finished….don’t let yr money go to waste, but my heart says run away as fast as you can. I see these cards as telling me to look hard at where I am,be clear about what I want and be aware of the hazards and pitfalls that may lay ahead… so give up the course as a bad job. Any thoughts you have to clarify this would be much appreciated. Thanks”

All contributions greatly appreciated. I have already offered the student my initial reactions but do think more cards may help, especially as they are repeating themselves. There is a definite message here but we might get more with additional Cards. I will be interested to see what you all think.

  1. This is what first popped into my mind: the big job changes have restricted the querent’s intuition; it weighs heavy on her mind. Obviously, she thinks she needs to enhance her skills so she will not be fired…How do big changes mean that she won’t have a job? Are these fears completely unnecessary or is there a real chance she will be fired?she is scattering her energy to find a way to enhance skills. Maybe it’s not really enhancing skills that needs to be done. maybe it’s something else…I think she should wait and listen to her intuition to see what comes up, or draw more cards…

    • Thank you so much for answering the call and offering your opinion and interpretation on your fellow Tarot Student’s Daily Cards.

Just to let you know, I will not be commenting on individual interpretations of this Reading as the Querant has asked for everyone’s input and insights. I have already passed on my own comments but may possibly comment again. Reading all the contributions so far has triggered other connections in my mind which I may share later. Tarot Brainstorming is great for bouncing theories and ideas off each other. It is also great fun.

  2. For me, the first reading is about removing some of the trivilalities that were trapping the querant in an illusory prison. The cards suggest that unnecessary distractions might have been contributing to her career cul-de-sac that might have made her disposable in the eyes of the employer.

/But now she might be in danger of going too far and throwing the baby out with the bathwater. Some of the skills she learnt on the course – maybe ones that seemed irrelevant at the time – need to be emphasised to the boss so that she will be able to remain in work.
/The question that remains is this: Will this still be what she wants? A gilded prison remains a prison, after all.

  3. The 2 cards on top 7 of cups reversed, 8 of swords, mean end of confusion, making up our mind, deciding on a decision. 8 of swords Hands are tied, stuck in a bad situation you feel you can’t get out of. wanting someone to come rescue you. It kinda looks like you finally make up your mind about a job situation but this will tie you down more then before. So be careful how you make your decision and really weigh matters and know what your getting into before signing on the dotted line so to speak. It looks like a decision that puts you in a bind. beware.

  4. I think the reversed 7 of cups is telling you that you are not seeing beyond what’s been presented to you… it’s all fuzzy now but I think you might be blind folding yourself. Maybe all of these big changes at work will eventually beneficial for you. I think you should give it a try and also the new course, remember that the 8 of swords is most of all the time “self imposed”…you don’t have to make a decision Now…Take your time and give things a try

  5. you’ve made your choice but are holding yourself back from acting on it. once you do act upon it, when you release yourself from your own bindings, the world of opportunity will be yours once again, pouring forth all that you could wish for.

  6. Bondaged and self crated fantasies.Analyse clearly relax your mind what course are you good at.there are several options and choices. All sound wonderful ,getting carried by scattering energy deceiving yourself losing a sense of practical reality.Should focus on one not too many as you can see on seven of cups each cup with different pattern ,they may not be exactly as they seem wait and see until less confused. No permanent decision should be taken until something solid emerge..

  7. For the seven of cups, since you drew this upright then reversed I would say it represents. This has always been a hard card for me to interpret and I’ve drawing it lately myself just as you have upright and reversed. And I’m going through the same kind of thing at my job. Here’s what I think. The 7 of cups represents all of the possibilities surrounding you. Taking the course, not taking the course, having a job, leaving a job, etc. It’s all those things out in the ether which aren’t concrete but are possibilities, thoughts. When you’re in a positive frame of mind the focus is on the proactive pro-survial possibilities like the taking the class. When your focus is on the fearful side like I spent to much money, I don’t like the class, I should quite, I may lose my job etc. So perhaps that’s why its reversed one day and upright the next. Where the eight of swords in concerned I think you are driving yourself crazy. Building up the what if factor. What if I’ve spent too much money, what if I don’t have a job. Imagining the worst case scenario. You may feel fenced in, insecure in your future, but in reality nothing has changed yet. But in your mind you’re already to the end. Since this is a reading on your current situation, perhaps you may at this point want to center yourself. Get focused and out of the 7 of cups mode. Write out your options, if A happens this is what I’ll do, if B happens this is what I’ll do. In the meantime while i”m in limbo this is what I’ll do. That will give you some clarity and ability to move forward and get yourself out of the 8 of swords as well. Life happens to all of us. And though we can’t control the actions of others and how they effect us. We can control our response. So take control of your emotions and thoughts and do take care of yourself. I hope this helps
