Holistic Tarot Reading and Consultancy?
Holistic Tarot Consultancy differs from traditional Tarot Reading. Tarot Reading in the past was, and is still used by many as a ‘Fortune-Telling’ method of divination. Typically the client sat quietly throughout a brief reading while the Tarot Reader relayed an interpretation of each card drawn. It was a one way flow of communication with The Tarot Reader in full control while the client sat silently taking note of all the bits and pieces. I have been to plenty of these myself over the years. A Reading was often a series of non-related pieces of information with some parts making sense while others remained mysterious or out-of-place. People often sought Tarot Readings to find out if the Reader could see what they already knew about themselves.
Tarot Reading has thankfully evolved and today we find a rich variety of interpretation styles to suit every need.
Holistic Tarot Consultancy goes much deeper than the old-fashioned method by diving into the realm of the human psyche and all that resides therein. It draws a new style of clientele; those who seek personal empowerment and the freedom to control and manage their own life. They see Tarot as a form of Personal Life Coaching which will equip them with the necessary skills and attitude to achieve their goals and dreams. Read the rest of this entry
How to Interpret ‘Pentacle Cards’ in a Relationship Reading
Hi to All My Tarot Friends and Followers,
Yes, this post is indeed long over due and I apologise for the delay in getting it out to you. Since my last post I have succumbed to a vicious flare up of Fibromyalgia which has been very debilitating this time round. For those of you who suffer from, or know about this condition, you will only be too aware of how rotten it can be. I have not been been able to attend to my regular work schedule and have only managed a couple of hours a day at the computer. Some days, none at all. I am hoping that a return to normal activity is on its way soon, but from previous experience, flare-ups vary in intensity and duration. My cards do show The Star in my surrounding energy, so fingers crossed.
I hope you enjoy reading about the Pentacles – Love and Romance Associations. I think I may have gotten carried away as I seem to have done more on this Suit than I did for both Wands and Swords. There is so much to say about these lovely Pentacles. Indeed, I could have written a lot more!
Vivien (your Tarot Teacher)
Pentacles- Quite Interesting in Relationship Readings
Pentacles are generally welcomed in Relationship Readings once they are Upright. Cups are all very well and good for love and romance, but they can have their heads stuck in the clouds and get lost in unrealistic dreams as their emotions run away with them. Yes, Cups do highlight matters of the heart, but only on the basis of fluctuating emotions. The love experienced by Cups can turn sour overnight as they are easily influenced by their shifting environment. They view love and romance in an idealistic way and most certainly they are to be encouraged in this manner for we should all be lost without love. However, holding on to that love once they have found it can prove a stressful endeavor. Some Cups are forever chasing the dream lover or relationship. Disappointment or disillusionment can follow. Pentacles help them to be more realistic and practical about their needs….. Click here or Below to Read More

Associated Post – How to Interpret a Relationship Tarot Reading with no Cup Cards!
There is a certain area of Tarot Reading that causes considerable confusion and frustration to those who are in the early stages of their apprenticeship or studies. The area I refer to is how one goes about interpreting a Relationship Spread when there is an obvious lack of Cup Cards to work with. Many students struggle when attempting to link non-Cup Cards to the emotional needs or desires of their client. They can view each Suit in a one-dimensional manner. This results in seeing love and romance only when Cup Cards are present. A good old Wand, Sword or Pentacle doesn’t have the same impact at all.
I spent several years teaching Tarot, and at the end each class lesson, students would pair up to do mini exchange readings for each other. I would oversee these readings as I circulated around the class, stopping occasionally to observe the interactions. Time and again, I saw students fall into the same presumption trap that seems to be particular to the Cups’ Suit. Here are some examples:
Student A – Wants to ask about their career and in their near future position lies the Ace of Cups.
Student B– Face lights up and announces that they are going to meet someone on a romantic basis in the near future. Love is in the air. Student B hooks onto this card and bases the rest of the reading around the new romance that is just appearing on the horizon.
Student A – Is quite flattered but still would like to know more about their career.
I ask Student B if there is a possibility the Ace of Cups held others meanings that might be connected to career rather than love? The Point being that Cup Cards do not automatically mean ROMANCE or LOVE.
Student C – Wants to ask about relationships and whether there is a ‘special other’ waiting for them in the near future. The cards drawn reveal no Cups.
Student D – On seeing no Cup Cards suggests that the time is not right as they see no romance in the foreseeable future.
I ask Student D to ponder the cards in the Spread and consider the possibility that Student C is not the romantic type and is looking for a less traditional type of relationship. Could they be seeking an intellectual match, or someone who is daring and adventurous, or then again it might be financial security and stability that means more than romance. The Point being that no Cup Cards does not mean NO RELATIONSHIP or LOVE
I had a query recently from a site viewer who couldn’t work out why she had drawn so many Cup Cards when she had deliberately asked about her career. She asked if it meant that she should be concentrating on her love life at present instead of her career? Now, maybe the cards did mean that, but my response was to examine the personal emotional associations of the Cup Cards she drew, as opposed to automatically connecting them to romantic involvement with another. I reminded her that personal happiness comes before seeking it with another. I asked her to revisit these Cup Cards in relation to how she emotionally felt about her career choices. Were the cards suggesting a career associated with the Cups’ Suit? Where they questioning the long-term emotional fulfillment that would be derived from certain career options she was considering? Could she be choosing to turn down a career opportunity that would bring great happiness, but little wealth, in favor of one that promised the very opposite? There are endless possibilities and she would need to analyse the spread as a whole to find the answer.
So, the next time you do a Relationship Reading, and upon turning over the cards you find not even one Cup Card to run with, don’t panic. Look at the cards that are present and work from there. Love comes in many shapes and sizes. Our definition of love also changes throughout of our life. What we consider love as a teenager, is perceived as no more than naive infatuation as a young adult. When we are busy building our careers we may take another view of love and romance. It may not be as vitally important to us during that busy time. Love that involves committing to each other, or starting a family, takes on yet another slant. Then we have the type of Love that develops into a deep rich friendship. We also have a Love that demands the retention of personal freedom, the love of one’s own company. We have love that comes and goes, many loves in one lifetime, love that is delusional or elusive, and of course love that is timeless. As Tarot Readers or consultants it is not our job to attach a blanket understanding or meaning of love when doing Relationship Readings for ourselves or others.
What might sound preposterous to you may very well be extremely acceptable to another. A lack of Cup Cards could easily suggest that the person you are reading for is looking for something other than the typical romantic idyll. They may not feel ready for that type of love, so it is not our place to cast judgement.
I have taken some time to compile a list of possible meanings and associations (both Upright and Reversed) that can be used for the other Three Suits; Wands, Swords and Pentacles when they turn up in a Relationship Reading. I have already written extensively about the relationship aspects in the more detailed versions of each card which are available to view on this site. These however can be used for quick access.
I have also given snapshot Yes/No meanings that can be applied, but remember they are only snapshot, and not definitive. There is also a reference to the Number of the Card with its numerical associations.
I will be releasing these in installments over the next week, starting with The Wands Suit. Of course I will also include The Cups Suit at the end. For today, I bring you The Wands Suit. Just Click Here or on the link below.
I’m Back !
Hi to all my Tarot Friends in the World,
Just want to let you all know that I am back at my Truly Teach Me Tarot Desk once more and gearing up to get stuck into some serious writing. I will be dealing with all my outstanding comments and correspondence first, so if you have sent a comment and heard nothing back from me, hang on in there as I wade through the pile. It is just me who runs this whole site and does all the writing, including building the new site, which still has to be launched!!! I have many roles to play and at times it can become quite a juggling act. Throwing college into the mix, certainly didn’t help. You have all been so patient with me during this time and I really want to thank you for your support. I have had to put everything to the side in the last few months as deadlines for assignments and college exams sucked every second of my time and energy. I have officially finished college after a grueling year of information overload in Digital Technology. I must say it has been one of the toughest times of my life, and certainly not helped by fatigue from major surgery less than a year ago, and the need for further surgery in May of this year. I am not as young as I once was, and by the end of college on the 29th of June was practically in a state of collapse from nervous exhaustion and horrendous insomnia.
Once it was all over, I was packed off to the Atlantic seaside town of Clonakilty in West Cork, Ireland, to rest and restore my troubled mind and body. My partner’s house is there right beside the beach of Inchydoney, and apart from one day of horrendous rain, we were blessed with glorious sunshine. I arrived looking pale, stressed and wan, but by the time I departed a week later, clad in flip-flops and shorts, I looked tanned and much healthier. I really didn’t want to come home so soon as I felt I needed more time. Many of you will know that I have suffered from a myriad of complicated and obscure health problems in recent years, and several of them flared up while in my final two months of college. A week was certainly not going to fully heal me.
However, return I did, but something very important happened before I left, and I hold the Atlantic Ocean responsible for it. For the last couple of years I have been in a dilemma as to whether I should pack up and leave where I live in Kildare and move down South to my partner in Clonakilty. I have dithered and dawdled, and worried about discommoding my three cats by taking them away from the home they have lived in for so long. Up until now I have been incapable of making a decision, and that in itself has caused considerable stress. It means my partner must travel to visit me and vice versa. It has been a ridiculous scenario to be living in for grown adults, but there you go, that is what we have done.
Anyhow, I think it was either the last or second last day of my stay, while I was standing in the ocean staring out to sea, that a moment of enlightenment came over me, and there and then I decided what must happen. The thoughts of leaving to go back to Kildare, left me with a terrible sense of homesickness for Clonakilty. I shouldn’t feel so awful about going home, but I did. I wouldn’t have batted an eyelid if someone rang me, let’s say a government official, and declared that I no longer had a house in Kildare, no longer had any possessions or rights there, and that returning wasn’t an option I could entertain. I probably would have asked what was to happen to the cats, but other than that, I would have said, “okay”, politely thanked him and hung up before jumping up and down on the spot with glee.
Greetings to all my Tarot Friends around the World,
Thank you to those who contributed their interpretations for The Six of Cups Reversed and The Tower. I have now posted these contributions. They can be viewed in the Comments Section by scrolling down to the end of the Post found at this Link. Your Comments should have been posted sooner but I have been experiencing awful internet problems throughout the last week. Better late than never they say.
Just to let you all know that I am busy re-working The Knight of Pentacles and hope to have him ready for viewing in the next couple of weeks. There will also be a New Year Reading for you to try out.
My personal news is that I have gone back to college. I am now in Dublin four days a week so have a tight schedule and heavy workload. However, my college course is in Digital Technology, and all going well, it will help me develop my new site in a much more efficient manner going forward into 2015. Exhausting, but all in a good cause!
Now back to the Reading mentioned in my Post Title. I found this in my Spam Folder, sent from a Site Visitor who asked for some insight into the Cards she had drawn; The Devil, The Tower, The High Priestess, The World, The Hierophant, The Wheel of Fortune and Strength....Wow! I don’t think this is Spam so I have decided to take a look at it. I will refrain from passing on the identity of this visitor as she may have wanted to deal with this privately.
There is no Question to go on. Neither is there any further information e.g. Was all the Deck used or just the Major Arcana? Had any of the Cards being Reversed before drawing these seven? Which Spread did she use, or did she just draw a specific number? Are the Cards for her, or another?
Because there are Seven Cards, I am going to take the liberty of laying them out in The Horse Shoe Spread. I am also going to assume she used only the Major Arcana as it would be unusual to get all Seven Cards as Majors. Judging by the Cards she drew, I will presume she has quite strong reasons for seeking insight from the Tarot. This was not a casual approach.
Like the last time, I will give my impressions and theories but would also appreciate some contributions from anyone who would like to offer theirs. Remember there are so many ways to interpret each Card, and therefore Spread, we may all get varying interpretations. However, when they are blended together this Reading could be quite dynamic. So whoever is willing, let us now have a go.
1 – The Past 7 – The Outcome
2 – The Present 6 – Hopes and Fears
3 – The Near Future 5 – Surrounding Energies
As I gaze upon these Cards I sense a battle or fierce struggle to overcome some pretty strong issues or challenges. I believe that whoever these Cards represent is desperate to make a bid for freedom or seeks to extricate themselves from a situation or person that has been exerting considerable control in their life. Judging by The Devil and Tower Card, the influence of this control has had a negative impact. Read the rest of this entry
Happy Holidays From The Land of Tarot,
We have had terrible storms in Ireland over the Holiday Period and many homes have been without electricity, telephone and internet connection. Hence, the delay in this Post going Out. However, better late than never. I do hope you have all been enjoying yourself wherever you are in the world.
Yes, that time of year has come around once more. Regardless of our different Religious or Spiritual beliefs, it is quite hard to completely avoid the seasonal festivities and celebrations for they seem to be everywhere. There is little escape, and for most of us there are things we both love and hate about this time of year.
Our Tarot Families are no different. They all have their own way of celebrating, and their own particular idea of fun and gaiety. When it comes to purchasing those all important gifts for family and friends they certainly have their own way of choosing them, be they considered sensible and practical, or totally extravagant and outrageous.
Let us now take a look at the Holiday Season with The Tarot and see how well they reflect our own situations and family gatherings. As the Holidays approach each of The Tarot Family prepare to gather and celebrate. However, before they can all come together, certain things must be done and arranged. Likewise, no sooner are the Holidays over, The Tarot Families are launched into further scenarios associated with this time of the year. As we go through the Cards that I have selected, and by the way, I haven’t used all of them, to demonstrate the multitude of situations surrounding the Holiday Season, it will be clear to see why it can be one of the most tiring and stressful times of the year for so many families and individuals.
So going on the basis that all the Court Cards Clans are gathering to celebrate in their own unique way, we will use the remaining Cards both in The Minor and Major to tell the rest of the story for us. This by the way is our story too.
The Wands Family Celebrating The Holiday Season
The Wands Family are all returning to the fold to celebrate the Holidays together. You may have noticed that I put The Queen in first place as she is most likely in charge of overseeing the whole occasion while managing to keep her busy career going at the same time. She will have gone shopping for a few things, but I reckon that most of her gift and food buying was done on-line. She certainly won’t beat around the bush either when it comes to letting her partner, The King of Wands know exactly what she expects to receive as her gift. The King will trust her judgement when it comes to buying his as he respects her taste. She seems to intuitively know each year just the right gift for him. Both the Knight and Page are easy to shop for as they will want the latest gadgets and game consoles, regardless of age. As a family they may decide to take off to an exotic climate and have their celebrations abroad instead of at home. The King of Wands will only take the briefest of time off work, and even then may be checking emails on an hourly basis. The Knight believes the Holiday Season is for kicking up one’s heels and is bound to party hard, even dragging the Page with him if he or she is old enough. They certainly will have a fun-filled time with lots of socialising, entertaining (if they do not decide to go away) and some action-packed family outings to burn off any excess eating and drinking. Their home is bound to be very loud with much comings and goings. They will spend a lot at this time of the year.
Question – If you had to buy each of The Wands Family a Gift, what do you think would please them most? Someone makes an announcement at The Special Family Dinner. Which one is it, what is the Announcement and how is it Received?
Below are some Holiday Season associations depicted through The Wands Tarot. Please feel free to add your own.

The Cups Family Celebrating The Holidays
Oh the joy of it all! The Queen and King of Cups are in their element at this time of the year. Having all their loved ones so close and all together under the one roof is all that matters. That is the greatest gift they could get. The Queen of Cups of course will go into overdrive; happily decorating, baking and spending days and weeks personally shopping for just the right gift for each member of her family. The King of Cups will shop with her and probably agree with all her choices. They will not look at the shopping as a chore but make it a day out instead. Perhaps they will book into a hotel for the night so that they can relax and get into the festive season in the right manner. They will happily roam from shop to shop and never seem to tire until all purchases have been made. Then of course there will be the agreement to separate for a couple of hours so that they can shop for each other’s gift. They both enjoy the element of surprise when opening gifts so will not drop any hints to each other before hand. They both believe that it is the thought that counts and know that their gifts were bought with love and will be treasured forever.
The Queen of Cups will lovingly prepare the bedrooms for the returning Knight and Page of Cup and will welcome any partners they may bring with them. Actually, it is to The Cups Home for the Holidays that many of the Knight’s and Pages’s friends will flock, for the atmosphere will be so special and the wine constantly flowing. The Cups will operate an Open House during the Holidays with friends and family constantly coming and going. They will have a large gathering for dinner and several other social occasions. The Knight and Page of Cups will probably have shopped together to buy their parents their gifts. If grandchildren are involved, The King and Queen of Cups will totally spoil and indulge them at this time of the year.
Question – If you had to buy each of The Cups Family a Gift, what do you think would please them the most? Someone makes an announcement at The Special Family Dinner. Which one is it, what is the Announcement and how is it Received?

*Tomorrow we will be looking at The Swords and Pentacles Family to see how they have been enjoying The Holiday Season, but before we do that let us have a look at some of The Major Arcana and see how their meanings can be associated with this time of year too.
The Fool – Acting Spontaneously, Impromptu buys, Living for the moment, Spending too much, Feeling Carefree and enjoying the party season
The Magician – The Commercial Machine, Sell Sell Sell, The Convincing Salesperson, The Shop Displays, Marketing for The Season, Displaying the ‘Must Haves’. Making us want it all.
The High Priestess – The Annoying Person who always knows the best gift to buy everyone. Yours to her never comes up to scratch because you never really know what she would like. She seems to breeze through the Holidays without breaking a sweat, getting stressed or fussed. Her house is always beautifully decorated and you love visiting because it is so peaceful in comparison to everyone else’s. How does she do it? Very annoying. When you go shopping with her, she embarrasses you into reaching into your pocket to put yet another few coins into all those rattling fundraising collection boxes that are on every street corner. She seems to give to all!
The Empress – Treating yourself, Pampering, Spoiling yourself, Dressing Up, Getting your Hair Styled, Buying luxurious Items just because you are worth it, going overboard buying gifts for the kids and everyone else. Absolutely loving this time of the year. Parties and good cheer.
The Emperor – Scrooge attitude, Bah humbug, thinks it is all a big waste of money, tries to curtail spending, refuses to give in to the whole commercial side of it, almost collapses when the Empress tells him how much she spent on the tree alone while pushing a nice glass of burgundy into his hand. Begrudgingly telling The Empress that her new very expensive dress looks lovely on her. Chastising her for spending too much money. Tries to hide his emotions from his offspring when they bring him his gifts. Wants to know how much everything cost. Thinks the world has gone mad and lost all reason.
The Hierophant – Ah, at last, the Spiritual Side of The Holiday Season from all Religious Aspects and Beliefs. The Commonalities and Solidarity between all Religions that it is a time of Peace, Goodwill, Generosity and being Charitable. People gathering to express their Faith and Beliefs.
The Lovers – Engagements at this Special Time of Year, buying that Special Gift for your loved one. Feeling extra romantic and in love. Office Party Flings!
The Chariot – Travelling Home for The Holidays, long journeys, tired but with the destination and welcome will be worth it. Car packed with gifts and good clothes.
Strength – Strength and courage for the bereaved and ill to get through this time of year. Being the Peacemaker when family wars break out. Finding the Strength to survive the Holiday Season intact.
The Hermit – Spending or Choosing The Holidays alone. Being elderly and having no family left to spend The Holidays with, Volunteering to help out at soup kitchens and with the homeless for the Holidays, thinking of others at this time of the year. Feeling lonely.
The Wheel of Fortune – Holiday Pay Bonuses, getting Expensive Gifts, Feeling on top of the world, Let the good times roll. Spending like there is no tomorrow, Having a ball, Party Party, Meeting the partner of your dreams, Luck.
Justice – What you have purchased on credit cards will have to be paid for, if you drink too much you will end up with a hangover, dragging up the same old family issues at the dinner table will get the same reaction it does every time you have done it in the past. Be very careful what you do when you have been drinking. You don’t want to get into trouble with the law! Also it is not a good idea to snog your boss at the office party. The consequences will land firmly on your shoulders only. The repercussions may not be desirable in the cold light of day.
Well, I think that is more than enough for today, so back tomorrow with the Swords, Pentacles and The Remaining Major Arcana.

Calling all Students and fellow Tarot Readers.
A Truly Teach Me Tarot visitor and fellow Tarot Student contacted me last week and asked if I might post this on their behalf without disclosing their identity. You can read their message below and post your comments in the comments box. Please do not be afraid to offer your insights. The person in question may do a fuller reading based on these Cards to gain further information. If so I will post those when they are sent to me. The person, Querant, will be reading your comments and understands that the Cards are subject to the individual’s method of interpretation, is open to all suggestions, but bound by none.
“Hi Vivien, Can I get your opinion please…or even that of other students on the site…On Tuesday i did my 2 card draw. I got the 7of cups reversed and the 8 of swords. Today I got the same cards again.. although the 7 of cups was upright. I am obviously being told something but I’m not sure what. My career is stalling at the moment as my employer is bringing in big changes and I don’t know if I shall have a job at the end of it. With this in mind I paid to do a course( quite expensive) to boost my skills.. unfortunately the course and its provider didn’t match my expectations and in the end I have put it on hold while I have a think. My practical self says just do it, get it finished….don’t let yr money go to waste, but my heart says run away as fast as you can. I see these cards as telling me to look hard at where I am,be clear about what I want and be aware of the hazards and pitfalls that may lay ahead… so give up the course as a bad job. Any thoughts you have to clarify this would be much appreciated. Thanks”
All contributions greatly appreciated. I have already offered the student my initial reactions but do think more cards may help, especially as they are repeating themselves. There is a definite message here but we might get more with additional Cards. I will be interested to see what you all think.

Well I have been missing a couple of days and have not been able to do much posting or writing. I will try to do some catching up today. I had car problems, hospital visits that involved trips up and down to Dublin and then I have been unwell for a few days, probably after picking up something in the hospital no doubt. To top it all, I have had little or no internet access for the last two days. Why, you might ask? Who knows? For reasons unbeknownst to myself, I could not get the connection to last any longer than about five seconds. I spent the guts of two days constantly rebooting the modem. This is Ireland, and compared to a lot of other countries in the world, our so-called ‘broadband’ is extremely ‘narrow and tight’ at the best of times, that is unless you live in the big cities. Of course you still pay the same charges regardless of how poorly your rural service performs in comparison to theirs.
So it has been a frustrating week and my fingers itched to get to my keyboard. It has also been a week of disappointing news, but let me stress, not entirely unexpected.
If you have been following my Blogs, you will know that my partner Billy had recently received a top-up mortgage approval from his building society so that he could buy a little house in a most beautiful place in South-West Ireland, Dingle , County Kerry. We had been monitoring the events surrounding this venture via his Daily Two Card Reading. Being his partner and having an obvious interest in him securing his little abode, we monitored my Daily Cards too.
The Survey of the house was due to be carried out by a local engineer. This man requested certain documents and certification from the vendor. These documents were sent through to my email address, and being the nosy person I am, I had a read through them. Something was not right and I relayed my feelings to my partner who thought I was just being my overly analytical self. We forwarded them on to both Billy’s solicitor who is handling the conveyancing and to the survey engineer.
The next morning I drew my Cards – The Page of Swords Reversed and the Queen of Swords. Oh!
Straight Away, I knew I was going to hear something that I would not going to be happy about when I saw the Reversed Page of Swords. It would be to do with legalities, contracts or documents. The Queen of Swords sitting beside him I knew was me, and the more I looked at her, the sterner her face became. I knew she could go into a terrible rant if she wanted to. I showed them to my partner and started putting the pressure on him to ring the surveyor as soon as he could. He told me that he would wait another day and then contact him. He must have been mad to think that I would sit around on my throne for another day without knowing what was going on. I persisted with him all day, constantly surmising about the survey and wondering if the report was done yet. What harm would a simple phone call make just to find out? However, my partner who has a lot more patience than I, felt we should wait another day. I wanted the facts now. ‘Hand them over right away’!!!!
We didn’t have to ring anyone as it turns out because the engineer got to us before we could get to him. He had only done a certain amount of the report but the reason he was ringing us was that there was something amiss with the documents we had forwarded him. These were the documents the vendor had sent to us certifying that all building and extensions had been carried out in accordance with planning regulations. There was a problem, they were the wrong documents. Wrong by about five years and belonged to a much earlier work carried out on the property. My partner said he would get on to the vendor immediately and get the matter sorted.
He rang, but the vendor was away. We checked the name of the original engineer and rang him but he was on holidays. We were going to ring Billy’s solicitor to inform him but Billy quickly remembered that he too would be away for the week. It looked like we had to wait for two weeks for this guy to come back from his holidays before the correct documents could be forwarded. I was uneasy.
Well, you can guess how mad I was and how much I went on and on about it. Neither of us could believe that a professional person would sign their name to such an important document without checking the important details such as dates and relevancy. I got a bad feeling and so did Billy. Now we had to sit on it.
Two days later, just before we were due to head off to our singing lessons, we pulled our Daily Cards. Billy got Justice and The Ace of Swords
He showed them to me and I explained their significance under the circumstances. We wanted the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. We needed facts now and to cut to the heart of the matter. It didn’t matter about the house. If it didn’t work out there would be other houses. We didn’t want to be wasting our time and effort on something that would not stand up to close inspection. We discussed it and decided that we couldn’t wait two weeks, and maybe more, to know our fate. We had to find a way to get the information our engineer was looking for. Our engineer is a straight talking man. Upfront, forthright and honest. He calls a spade a spade and is meticulously thorough in his work. Justice told me that he would miss nothing, and if there was anything not quite right, this was the guy who would point it out. We decided we would start making some phone calls ourselves later that day after our singing lessons.
So with Billy’s Cards sorted, I pulled my two just as we were going out the door, late as usual. They were The High Priestess and The Three of Swords.
Well, she certainly does show up a lot for me in recent times. Again I could hear her coolly saying ‘what are you asking me for when you already know yourself. Look to the Three of Swords beside me, what do you think? Good news, celebrations, happiness and joy? ‘. I know, I know thought I, I have had a bad feeling about this ever since I read that document, and why we had to wait so long for something that should have been readily at hand? To my forensic mind, it didn’t add up. There was a blatant inefficiency about the whole thing that I didn’t like at all. The High Priestess was trying to break the news mildly by suggesting that you don’t get ‘too upset’ when you get the bad news. She reminded me that I already had my reservations and she was merely turning up to confirm them. Her presence told me that there was certainly information that was being concealed and possible secrecy involved. She was also telling me to trust my gut instincts more because they would rarely let me down.
And so we headed off to Dublin and our singing lesson. Later as we sat outside in the sunshine eating our shop bought sandwiches, I suggested to Billy that he might ring the surveyor to check if he had done any more with regards reporting on the house. Maybe he had managed to get the missing documents himself. Billy picked up his phone, it was still on silent after the singing lesson. He had forgotten to put it back to normal setting. He had a missed call from the survey engineer. We rang back and thankfully got him. Without going into detail, the news was not good. He had a long list of problems. I am not sure if everyone is familiar with this saying but the house was ‘all fur coat and no knickers’ . What that means is that on the outside and to the inexpert eye, everything looks wonderful, amazing and fantastic, but start digging deeper, lifting things, looking under and behind things then you will begin to see the flaws. It is amazing what a good make-up artist can do to when they want to hide imperfections. He told us that he knew we wanted to hear it straight up and with no hesitation. He certainly was ripping our rose-tinted glasses off and it was just what we needed. He reassured us that we would find a lovely home and that it wouldn’t take us long.
After the phone call, we headed home, feeling lighter and less stressed. Internally, I was angry and gave out the whole way home about this and that, and about how careful we must be the next time round. It had cost Billy money to be given this bad news, he will have to pay again for the next house he has surveyed. I was annoyed because in my belief, the vendor knew about all the issues, yet said nothing. The vendor had let Billy pay considerably for a survey he must have known would fail. We talked it to death over dinner. The thing is we both agreed that we were not upset at all by the report, annoyed by the waste of time yes, but not upset. We had sensed something was wrong, had hoped our gut instinct was wrong, but when it wasn’t, we were neither shocked nor surprised. Neither of us wanted to live in a house that would sprout nasty surprises on us in the coming months and years.
And so the search continues. However, I must remember to tell you all about how we came upon that house in the first place. How my Dowsing Bobber lead us to it, and how now in hindsight, I had forgotten to ask all the relevant questions about it instead of just the limited few I did. The success of any dowsing activity depends on the effort put in. You only get back the answers to the questions you ask. It is often the questions you don’t ask that are the most important. It is quite an amazing story and totally true.
I will be posting a new Daily Card Reading tomorrow, and later in the week will be going back on some of the previous ones to add another couple of Cards so that we might expand on their stories.
